Belt, Full Dress, Bandsman: Jamaica Regiment (West India Regt)
Uniform waist belt of whitened buff leather, fitted with a crested brass locket-pattern buckle.
The West India Regiment was formed in 1795 and dressed until 1859 as British infantry. The French Zouave style uniform was adopted following the Crimean War and remained unchanged until 1926, but still worn as a parade dress. When Jamaica became independent in 1962, the Jamaican contingent of The West India Regiment consolidated to become The Jamaica Regiment.
