Physical description
Jacket
Khaki four-pocket single-breasted jacket with pleats to the breast pockets. The jacket features regimental crested buttons of staybrite composition, having a tiger within a wreath. There are pairs of buttons to the pointed cuffs, two each side, mounted vertically. Metal rank badges are attached to the epaulettes and a matching pair of 1st Battalion collar badges of officer-quality are attached to the collars (a white metal Britannia superimposed on a gilt three-turret castle). To the left upper sleeve is sewn the regimental pattern Salamanca Eagle, being worked in gold wire on a purple circular field. To the right upper sleeve is sewn a yellow/red 'Minden' flash worked in thread on a black border, with Special Air Service qualification 'wings' sewn above. A yellow lanyard is fitted to the left shoulder.
Sewn to the left upper chest above the breast pocket are the award ribbons of the Military Cross; General Service Medal; Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal.

This is part of the Service Dress uniform that was worn by Lieutenant Colonel Eddie Thorne, MC, Commanding Officer of 1 Battalion, The Royal Anglian Regiment (the 'Vikings'). Colonel Thorne commanded the Battalion from 2003 until December 2005, and in that period led the Vikings to Iraq during Operation TELIC 6 (April-October 2005). Having a distinguished Royal Anglian career, Col. Thorne was awarded the Military Cross in 2003 whilst serving with Special Forces.
