Nurse's tippet (shoulder cape) made of lightweight fabric of RAF blue/grey. The front opening is closed by a black painted metal hook and eye at the throat, with an additional pair hooks sewn to inside back of the neck. On the back of the garment is a rosette of blue/grey material, which is backed by a shield-shaped piece of material inside. To the front facing corners of the garment at either extremity is pinned a brass RAF medical service caduceus with an Imperial Crown.
Ribbons representing the award of the following are attached to the upper left:
Royal Red Cross; 1939-1945 Star; Africa Star; Defence Medal; 1939-1945 War Medal (with bronzed MiD emblem); General Service Medal.

Formed in 1918 as the RAF Nursing Service, the title changed in 1923 to become Princess Mary's Royal Air Force Nursing Service (PMRAFNS). Personnel of this branch have served in many theatres on active service as well as being employed in RAF Hospitals at home locations.
