Physical description
Jacket
Single-breasted open-collared jacket of khaki cloth with pleated breast pockets and bellows pockets to the skirts. The jacket features bronzed metal rank pips fitted to the epaulettes and has regimental pattern buttons. To the lower right sleeve is sewn a red cloth inverted overseas service chevron. The medal ribbons of the Military Cross, British War Medal 1914-1920 & Victory Medal are sewn above the left breast pocket.
The jacket is in very poor condition, being heavily infested.
History note
Evelyn Henry Tschudi Broadwood served as an Officer of the 1st Battalion, Norfolk Regiment during the First World War, embarking for France with the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) in August 1914. Broadwood was wounded in October 1914, probably at the Battle of La Bassee, and was awarded the Military Cross in February of the following year.
