Jacket, Service Dress, 1913 Pattern: Captain, Norfolk Regiment
Single-breasted open collared jacket of heavy quality khaki cloth with pleated breast pockets and bellows pockets to the skirts. The jacket is fitted with regimental pattern buttons and cuff rank of Captain. The ribbons for the Military Cross and the 1914-15 Star are sewn above the left breast pocket. To the lower left sleeve is attached a single vertical wound stripe of gold wire russia braid. The jacket is very mothed and the collar badges absent.
Evelyn Henry Tschudi Broadwood served as an Officer of the 1st Battalion, Norfolk Regiment during the First World War, embarking for France with the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) in August 1914. Broadwood was wounded in October 1914, probably at the Battle of La Bassee, and was awarded the Military Cross in February of the following year.
