collar, indoor uniform, Voluntary Aid Detachment, WWI
A folded-over white plastic collar with provision for stud fastenings.
The explanatory letter with this gift explains that a red dress and apron was an indoor uniform for VAD / Red Cross nurses in WWI. Starched / plastic cuffs, collars and belts with the gift have been attributed to the WWI uniform as not appropriate to the other elements of the gift.
The dress and apron had been in the possession of the VAD Association for some time but the original provenance was not known.
The sizes as above, plus "Made in England" over maker's name, plus a Trade Mark of an elephant and a turtle (?)
