Nine fragments of stained glass and wooden frame. The wooden frame bears the signature of George Brooker and the title '1917 ARRAS CATHEDRAL 1917' and features a semi-circular recess to hold the glass fragments.
George Brooker was born on 2 August 1889 at Kingsclere, Buckinghamshire. Having joined the Army (serving in the Army Service Corps) he was stationed at Hounslow Barracks. He served in France and Flanders (Western Front). In 1917 he married Helen Ella Whiting. George Brooker died in 1972, aged 82. (Information supplied by the donor). Nine fragments of stained glass from Arras Cathedral acquired in 1917 by George Brooker (Army Service Corps) during his First World War service on the Western Front. The glass fragments are associated with a crudely made wooden frame which bears the signature of George Brooker and the 'title '1917 ARRAS CATHEDRAL 1917'.
