Physical description
Silver cigarette case with decorative foliate scrollwork embossed on both sides of the exterior, 'CS' has been engraved on the front of the case, the interior has two strips of white elastic to hold cigarettes in place, hallmark consists of makers name, an anchor, a lion passant and the date letter 'r', this is the Birmingham mark dated to 1916-17, on the inside there is an inscription that reads 'SERGEANT CHARLES STACEY M.M. IN GRATEFUL RECOGNITION OF VALOUR & EFFICIENCY FROM THE COMMITTEE WHICH RAISED THE 16TH (S) ST PANCRAS BATT OF THE RIFLE BRIGADE. OCT 1916'.
