Physical description
A curved black plastic pipe stem with metal lining, the manufacturers logo runs along one side 'ROPP', there is a small portion missing at end of the tenon.
History note
Forest Frederick Edward Yeo-Thomas born 1901; manager for Molyneux in France until outbreak of Second World War; enlisted as AC2 Interpreter in RAF, serving with a Forward Air Ammunition Park of the Advanced Air Striking Force and later with a bomber liaison section at Le Bourget. 1940 Sergeant, returned to England; worked as an interpreter with Free French Air Force; after receiving commission became an Intelligence Officer with Polish Fighter Squadron; 1942 entered Special Operations Executive with rank of Flight Lieutenant, attached to RF Section; liaison work between Gaullist resistance groups and British service ministries. First undercover operation in occupied France operation "Seahorse" between 25 February and 15 April 1943; operation "Marie Claire" between September and November 1943; operation "Asymptote" between February 1944 and 21 March 1944 when he was arrested and tortured by the Gestapo. Ultimately detained in Buchenwald; early 1945 moved to Rehmsdorf; escaped 16 April 1945. Awarded George Cross as a result of his work with the French Resistance Movement. Returned to Molyneux after the War; from 1950 representative in France of Federation of British Industries. He died in 1964.
