Piece of embroidered fabric and six carded threads.
Short length of natural weave cream-coloured fabric embroidered with a line of six small colourful circles, acquired with embroidery threads in assorted colours wrapped round six pieces of card.
History note
Dr Pennefather was a British civilian internee at a camp in Java during the Second World War. A Danish lady married to an Englishman who were in the same camp had with her embroidery silk and she ran embroidery classes within the camp.
The embroidery was made during the Second World War by a 19 year old girl whilst she was imprisoned in a Japanese Civilian Internee Camp in Java. See file for full details.
