Physical description

Yellow metal butter knife made from silver plate, with HMS Hood crest enamelled in white and green at end of handle, the reverse is stamped with letters EPNS.

History note

The Latin motto 'Ventis Secundis' may be translated as 'With the winds favourable' - a reference to the words Lord Samuel Hood during a naval action off Martinique in 1781.
