Gold-coloured figure of Jesus on a copper-coloured cross on a square three-step plinth. The cross and base of the crucifix are made out of shell cases. To the front of the cross has been attached a figure of Jesus which was taken from a ruined church or chapel.
This crucifix was made by Victor Royal Shewan while he was recovering after being shot in the knee during the First World War. He was a machine gunner in the Gloucester Regiment.
It is believed that he found the figure for the crucifix in a ruined church or chapel in Ypres. The cross he made out of shell cases.
