A model aeroplane made from a match wrapped in thin metal and tied with wire. The wings are made of sycamore seeds. The tail of the plane and the propeller are also made of a thin metal. The wheels are made of two shirt buttons. The plane is attached to a piece of card bearing the inscription: 'Model of an Aeroplane built out of Tree Leaves, an Acorn, a Match, and Shirt Buttons, by a Belgian Soldier'. At the bottom of the card is the name of the soldier, his rank and where he was wounded but this information is indecipherable. A scrap of Belgian flag is also pinned to the bottom of the card.
This model aeroplane was made as a form of occupational therapy by a wounded Belgian soldier during the First World War.
