Description

Physical description

tin & tobacco & palm leaf strips & tinder old and very worn 'Blueband Margarine' tin containing tobacco, palm leaf strips and tinder. The fibrous tinder is in paper packets.

History note

Smoking requisites (including tobacco, palm leaf strips used in place of cigarette paper, and a home-made tinderbox lighter) used during the Second World War by Graham Dunbar whilst held as an internee of the Japanese. An employee of the British American Tobacco Company Mr Dunbar was interned in Soerkarta, Bandoeng and Tjimahi camps, Java.
