Physical description
Shoulder plaid brooch to Pipers of the 6th Queen Elizabeth's Own Gurkha Rifles, comprising a polished convex white metal disc with the centre voided, over the void is fixed a white metal badge of a St. Edward's (Queen's) crown in the upper angle of a pair of crossed kukris, hilts and cutting edges down, between the hilts, a separate numeral 6. Captioned: "Pipers Shoulder Brooch". A robust pin-back fastening (east-west) to reverse, obscured by sealing wax.
Physical description
Box 81: Mounting card captioned: "6th Queen Elizabeth's Own Gurkha Rifles, Other Ranks" (7153-7157) on which 7 items, one of which consists of a group of three buttons. Reverse with a large deposit of green sealing wax bearing the oval seal with MINISTRY OF DEFENCE / PATTERN ROOM, with across the centre, ARMY / OFFICERS. Lower right an oval stamp on which "Q (Maint) 2 / MINISTRY OF DEFENCE" with across the centre "15 JUN 197O".

On 1st January 1959, the 6th Gurkha Rifles were granted a Royal title in recognition of their war record and in particular their service during the Malayan Emergency and became the 6th Queen Elizabeth's Own Gurkha Rifles.
The brooch was worn by pipers from 1961-1994.
