Gilding metal rank star to officers of the Irish Guards, being the eight-point Star of St. Patrick over the centre of which embossed a circlet with the motto QUIS SEPARABIT / MDCCLXXXIII (Who shall separate us / 1738), in the centre of the circlet a saltire overlaid by a shamrock. Captioned to the left: “Stars:- Irish Guards”, with an asterisk, and to the right a ms notation: “Order of St. Patrick”. Two loops and cotter pin to reverse.
