Box, lid, glass jars containing horse fodder, metal boxes containing seeds
Wooden box made of thin plywood, bound with metal painted grey. Stamped on the lid are the words FIELD VETERINARY CHEST UNIT. The lid is removable, and has a list of contents pasted onto the inside. The remains of straps can be seen on the front face of the box, with buckles attached. The nails to attach the straps to the back are visible, although no straps remain. The inside of the box is divided into three sections vertically, the central section is the largest, and is then divided into three again horizontally. The tray written about in the inscription is missing. There is active rust on the lid, and traces of bird droppings.
Within the box are ten glass bell-style jars, and one ordinary glass jar, containing samples of ersatz horse fodder from Germany. Some of the jars are cracked. The contents are listed as follows:

There are 52 small metal brass coloured boxes containing seeds. These are all from Sutton and Co. seed company, based in Reading.
There are 2 empty seed boxes.
The seed boxes and glass jars were wrapped in newspaper dated June 1924.

On top of D is a tray to hold solutions for dressing wounds. This try, when full, holds one quart.
Instructions for use (in Italics)
*Crush a tabloid and dissolve in 2 ounces of water.
To make White Lotion, dissolve one tabloid of zinc, and one of lead, each in 2 ounces of waer, and mix to form 3 ounces of lotion. The strength of this lotion is 1 1/2 drachms to each drug to the pint.
PERCHLORIDE OF MERCURY. - Dissolve one tabloid in one pint of water to make lotion of 1 in 1,000.
LYSOL. - Half-an-ounce to one pint of water makes a solution of 1 in 40 for wounds.
CHLORAL HYDRATE - Dose one ounce, to be given for colic, and not to be repeated within an hour.
Pierce one end of the ball before giving it to make sure of its dissolving rapidly.
