Lindholme Mark 3 supplies container : field equipment : British

History note

This container was used to carry Linda Kitson's sketches back from the Falkland Islands via Ascension Island. Artist Linda Kitson was appointed the Official War Artist for the Falklands Campaign (1982) and accompanied the British Task Force down to the South Atlantic on the 'QEII' to South Georgia. From there she transferred to SS 'Canberra' and on to San Carlos, Goose Green, Fitzroy and finally Port Stanley. She was the first official women war artist. Linda Kitson recalls that despite being told of the durability of the container that the bottom fell out when it was accidentally dropped from a height of a few centimetres to the ground!
