8mm Portuguese Kropatschek, M1886, dummy & 8 x 60R
brass rimmed bottlenecked case and round nosed wooden dummy bullet.
Portugal adopted the Mauser-Kropatschek in 1886. This was essentially a variation of the Mauser 71/84 rifle, but chambered for a variation of the 8mm cartridge developed for the Guedes single shot rifle. The Mauser-Kropatschek was itself superceded in Portuguese service by the Mauser-Vergueiro in 1904. The 'FA' in the Headstamp indicates 'Fabrica de Armas', a Government arsenal.
