Object description

"Active inert" version of the UK's submarine-launched Polaris A3TK intercontinental ballistic nuclear missile.

Physical description

First and second stage rocket motors, interstage section, equipment section, nose fairing and nose cap. Also first and second stage dollies.

History note

Deposited as a gift from the Royal Navy's Polaris handling station at RNAD Coulport following withdrawal from service, this 'active inert missile' is largely complete, with the exception of several sensitive components removed prior to delivery in 1996. These parts included the flight control electronics package, guidance gimbal assembly and the guidance electronics assembly were removed.
