The identity of the recipient of this and the other medals received with it is not known, although he is presumed to have been a former Polish serviceman The serial number on the reverse of the Monte Cassino Cross (See OMD 6229) is amongst a batch issued to Polish Supply and Transport troops who took part in the fighting at Cassino in 1944.
The medals were found in the offices of an American lawyer in Littleton, Colorado, USA following his death. The lawyer's widow presented them to the museum.
