circular silver medal with, on the obverse, Queen Elizabeth II, bust crowned facing right surrounded by the legend "ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F.D." The reverse depicts Britannia, cloaked, helmeted and facing left, borne upon the sea in a shell-like chariot drawn by two partially submerged horses. In her right hand, which is extended, Britannia carries a trident and with her left hand she supports a Union shield. The whole executed in high relief suspender : straight bar, swivel : ribbon : red & white : white, with two broad outer and two narrow inner red stripes. The clasp which is plain bears the legend ' CANAL ZONE'
