Colonel Hugh Preston Park was a career army officer and served in the RAPC for some forty-five years. According to his daughter, Colonel Preston Park was the last British officer to leave Singapore and was responsible for getting his men and the Gold bullion in his charge away before the arrival of the Japanese. He later served in post-war Germany, in Berlin.
