Major Jack McFarlane (384034) RASC (5 Aug 1914-28 Sept 1996) awarded the MBE in the New Year's Honours List of 1 January 1961 (notification 30 December 1960). McFarlane was born in China and joined the Shanghai Police. He escaped from Shanghai with the Japanese invasion. He was then commissioned into the 11th Sikh Regiment Indian Army and served with Force 136 in Burma. He subsequently transferred to the British Army following Indian Independence, joining the RASC and specialising in Air Drop Organisation. He served in Hong Kong, Cyprus, Malaya and Jordan, retiring from the Army in the early 1960s.
