Breast badge, Order of the Medjidjie, 4th Class, Turkey
The badge is a cut-silver star of seven points, between the arms of which are seven small crescents and stars. In the centre is the Sultan of Turkey's cypher on a gold or silver ground. This is surrounded by a band of crimson enemel with an inscription in Turkish. The badge is suspended by a star and crescent, enamelled in crimson. The ribbon is red with a narrow vertical stripe if green at each edge. This example is a breast badge converted for wear as a neck badge. The piece has been privately engraved as follows: Capt. Sir H.S.Rawlinson Bt. Colds. Guards.
