Physical description
Pommel form: well beaked with rounded end housing T-shaped attachment slot. Press stud, on right side, operates locking catch via internal coiled spring. Back flat and straight, underside rounded and continuing the curve of grips and tang. Pommel meets grips diagonally.
Grips form: two-piece checked leather grips held by two slot-headed bolts with washers. Underside and back rounded and gently shaped to hand.
Crossguard form: straight with lower guard that tapers towards a broad round finial. Upper guard extends into high full muzzle ring.
Blade form: single-edged with round-ended fullers. From the crossguard the blade narrows then widens and finally tapers towards a spear-shaped point.
Plain steel scabbard with rimmed mouthpiece, secured by single screw bolt through front, and domed circular frog stud on cylindrical stem and oval-shaped raised base. Blued body tapers very gently then more sharply to ball ferrule. The scabbard has serial number 5774 F.
