This traditional dagger was worn as part of the accoutrements of soldiers of the Somali contingent of the Royal Italian Corps of Colonial Troops. These troops were raised in Italian Somaliland (part of modern Somalia). Six battalions of them took part in the invasion of Ethiopia in 1935.
