wide flat-bodied scabbard in wood covered with grained black leather and fitted with gilt brass mounts. Short topmount with angled depression and adjoining looped topband for short sword sling. Midmount, secured by two screws, has an integral loop and attached loose ring. Long decoratively edged chape secured by single staple through back. Chape tapers very slightly towards gently rounded (almost flat) toe
