Hilt form: kindjal-style hilt with long narrow waisted two-piece wood grip secured to tang by two large rivets. Rivet heads on right side have conical tops and are set in ornate silver mounts.
Blade form: broad heavy short sword blade, reminiscent of the Roman gladius, tapering to leaf-shaped point. A single narrow and very deep fuller is formed on each side.
Blade finish: watered (very faint).
'Trophy' sword, believed to have been captured circa 1917-1918. Described in acquisition register as an "Arab double-edged short sword with scabbard. From Haifa. Palestine Campaign. 221". A subsequent note in pencil states "Scabbard disposed of, curator's review of store 16 XII31".
