Physical description
CONTROL.
Pommel form: short and beaked with rounded end housing shallow T-shaped attachment slot. Press stud, on right side, operates locking catch via internal coiled spring. Back flat and straight, underside rounded. Pommel meets grips diagonally.
Grips form: two-piece wood ornamented with intersecting diagonal indentations forming decorative broad diamond pattern. Grips retained by two large screw bolts with washers. Underside rounded and gently shaped to hand, back flat and straight.
Crossguard form: broad straight crosspiece, round-ended lower guard extends 13mm below blade. Upper guard formed into high waisted muzzle ring.
Blade form: single-edged tapering very slightly towards broad spear point, fullered. Blade back rounded.
Stamped into the ricasso is "ARTILLERIA" and an obscured motif. Stamped into the crosspiece is "PB0386".
