Physical description
Hilt form: heavy slender 'coke-bottle' [Buerlein] grip in black-painted cast alloy. The grip is deeply ribbed or 'ringed' and the pommel has a baluster shape - broadening towards its end which is topped by a large button-like tang nut in brass. The nut, screwed on to the threaded tang end, secures blade within hilt. A short [51 mm, 2 inch] straight crossguard separates grip from blade.
Blade form: flattened diamond section stiletto-style blade - narrow double-edged tapered blade with prominent medial rib and no ricasso.
Tapering red-brown leather scabbard with two slits in the back piece to thread onto a belt. The front piece is attached by brown stitches and 5 metal split pins. The reverse of scabbard is a buff colour (undyed).
