Die grosseuropäische Menagerie
Hatt' kürzlich sich dahin verständigt,
Zu vernichten den edlen Meister, der sie
Bis dahin gezähmt hat und gebändigt.
Auf ein bestimmtes Zeichen fing's an,
Und alles war recht schön im Lote;

[European beating hunt. Ireland. England. London. Norway. Denmark. France. Paris. Bordeaux. Belgium. Germany. Germany. Russia. Siberia.
Japan. Spain. Switzerland. Italy. Austria. Vienna. Hungary. Lemberg. Rumania. Montenegro. Serbia. Bulgaria. Albania. Greece. Turkey. The
great European menagerie has recently arranged to destroy the noble master, who up to then had tamed and restrained them. When the agreed
sign was given it started, and everything was nicely in order; the Russian bear shook paws with the Gallic rooster and the English hound.
But soon the three were joined by the Belgian lion's shrilling, and then came also the delightful Serbian pig and Japs, the charming
monkey. But when the master took up the whip, a trembling ran through them all. They were given a good hiding – soon they are quite tame
once again behind the protecting bars. Dr. Storch Goëben Morocco. Union Publishing Company, Charlottenburg 2.]
