Image: a view of the heavily bomb damaged Coventry cathedral. The foreground is littered with bricks, metal girders and rubble, the walls and spires largely intact in the background.

Framed and mounted drawing.

Label

Artist Randolph Schwabe was instructed by the War Artists Advisory Commission to go immediately to Coventry to record the ruined cathedral and produced this drawing illustrating the damage. The striking spire of the cathedral remained intact.
