A second note records the caption suggested to accompany the photograph when published in the Daily Mirror: 'Pacifists protected by Police from the public.'

On the reverse are ink stamps of the News Illustrations Co and the Press Bureau, the latter date stamped 5 May 1918. Also on the reverse is caption information handwritten in pencil and hand written reference numbers.
