An album of photographic prints and postcards relating to the 1st Battalion, The Duke of Wellington's Regiment in India before and during the early years of the First World War. Subjects include the regimental colours; battalion sports: athletics; rugby; and team photographs: Inter-company cross country winners; 'C' Company Regimental Sports winners 1912; No.3 Section, 'D' Company company relay race winners, 1914; No.3 Platoon Tug-of-War winners, 1915; 'H' Company Hockey team - runners up in inter-company tournament, 1913; 'C' Company Hockey team, 1914; 'G' and 'H' Companies, winners and runners up in inter company rugby tournament, 1915; Regimental Boxing team, 1913; 'D' and 'H' Company Lines at Solon, 1913; Battalion Scout's tent at Solon, 1913;
Concert party members in costume including 'E' Company 'Sharks' and stagehands. Also individual portraits and group photographs. Amongst the latter are the Maxim Gun Section in 1912 and 1913; Regimental Police, 1913; No.3 Section 'H' Company at Solon; No.4 Section 'H' Company, 1913; No.2 Section 'C' Company 'Yorkshire Lads'; No.4 Section 'A' Company, 1913; members of the Royal Army Temperance Association; members of NCOs physical training class at Solon, 1913. There are also four photographs showing stages of a Tibetan sky burial.
Red cloth covered album with 'POSTCARDS' in gold lettering on front cover. The main body of the album is detached from the covers and the front cover is detached from the spine and rear cover. An attempt has been made to repair the integrity of the cover using tape. The black and white photo postcards are slip mounted in the album. The seven black and white photographic prints are loose.
