Four albums and loose photos relating to the service of Flying Officer D C Burnley RAF on the North-West Frontier of India 1925-1928. Burnley was involved in operations against the mountain strongholds of Mahsud tribesmen in South Waziristan in March and April 1925. The campaign was known as 'Pink's War' after Wing Commander Richard Pink. It was the RAF's first air action independent of the army or navy. Aircraft from Nos. 5, 27 and 60 Squadrons were involved. The tribes sued for peace in May, and only 2 British lives and one aircraft were lost.
