Prints and negatives, loose and in photo-wallets, relating to the service of Frederick Mansel Vincent Tregear of the British Army with the Nigerian Regiment, in India and Palestine. Also a small album of wedding photographs (presumed that of Tregear's brother).
Print, mounted on card of Frederick Tregear as a boy aged five in 1910; a loose print of F M V Tregear's father, Lt Colonel Frederick Charles Tregear, c 1925 in Jersey. Album of 13 prints from Brompton Press Bureau, London, depicting the wedding of Huw Tregear with Frederick as his best man.
The collection includes a series of 45 prints of scenes of daily life, work, accommodation and working enviroment, and members of the 5th Battalion, the Nigeria Regiment at their camp at Yola (1933 1936) durign Tregear's secondment, contained in a 'Boots the Chemist, photographic service' paper wallet. 11 negatives, some overexposed, two of which depict the coronation procession of King George VI of 1936 contained in a Will R Rose Ltd, photographic chemists of Chester paper wallet and including original paper retrun envelope and receipt for developing. A series of 23 prints relating to a hunting competition, use of elephants to rescue a mud-bound car and various scenes of the use of elephants in India whilst Tregear was with the 2 KOSB c 1947; formal studio portrait of a Subedar Major of 7th (Duke of Connaught's Own) Rajputs; a series depicting a 'recce-picnic' by members of 2 KOSB at the 'Sappers' Camp' on the Khyber Pass, NWFP 1946; Lt General Frank Messervy taking the salute at the 2 KOSB Trooping the Colour at Roberts' Line, Peshawar, May 1947 prior to the unit's disbandment and 2 prints, plus one digital re-print, of 1st Battalion King's Own Scottish Borderers on parade in Trans-Jordan during month's rest and training from duties in Palestine, 1947.
