Two photo albums depicting service of Corporal Władysław Pawlik in France and Britain with the Polish Army during the Second World War.
Album 1 (96 images) consists of:
Portrait photograph of Władysław Pawlik from 24 November 1939; group phototograph of Polish refugees, both military and civilian, in the internment camp in the Hungarian town of Nagykanizsa; photograph of Władysław Pawlik and three other Polish refugees in civilian clothes taken on 25 January 1940, very likely on the way to France as the 'Sikorski Tourists'; nine images of Polish soldiers in France from March and May 1940; three images of Polish servicemen on board French ship 'Richelieu'; another five images of Polish troops in training in France.
Eighteen photographs of Polish troops in Scotland (1st Polish Corps) including fold dancers, group photographs and individual portraits from December 1940; two images of Winston Churchill visiting Polish troops in Scotland accompanied by General Władysław Sikorski and General Gustaw Paszkiewicz; the remaining photographs show Polish troops during their on and off duty time in Scotland, mainly photographs of Mr Pawlik and his squadmates.
Album 2 (199 images) consists of:
Numerous images of the 1st Polish Corps in Scotland; two images of General Sikorski greeting pilots of the Polish Air Force; Eight photos of General Sikorski visiting the 1st Polish Armoured Division, accompanied by General Stanisław Maczek; One image of the 1st Independent Parachute Brigade training on the parachute tower at Lundin Links, near Largo. Two images of Polish President Władysław Raczkiewicz visiting Polish troops somewhere in Scotland; numerous images of Corporal Pawlik time at the University of Edinburgh including photos of students and tutors as well as General Józef Haller's visit to the University.
The remaining content of the album are portrait photographs of Mr Pawlik's numerous friends in the Polish Armed Forces. Also three group photographs of Polish students and their tutors of the University of Edinburgh, one of them signed on the back by all participants.
