Collection: Peter Shankland Collection Photographs
Stills from a number of German films including the banned documentary 'Asylrecht' ['Right of Asylum'] produced by the Film Section ISD Control Commission for Germany in collaboration with Deutsche Documentarfilm Gesellschaft mbH, showing the plight of refugees fleeing from the Russian to the British sector in 1949. Other stills included are from 'Heimkehrer' ['Returnees'], 'Flüchtlinge' ['Refugees'], 'Ruhrgebiet', 'Nahrung aus dem Meer' ['Food from the Sea'], 'Die Bergung der New York' ['Raising of the New York'], 'Lebens adern' ['Life line'], 'Viele von uns' ['Many of us'], and 'Rhine Boatmen'. The collection also includes photographs P M Shankland MBE. There is also a diagram of a film projector which is thought to be assosiated with the collection.
