BRITISH EXPERIMENTATION WITH WARTIME AMERICAN ARMOUR AT MVEE

Scorpion mine destroying equipment fitted to a Sherman M4A2 tank which began service in the North African campaign and is being tested here for potential service in the Middle East. This ME Scorpion has had the front hull cutaway to facilitate the raising and lowering of the flail drum. Hydraulic arms and flail drum are in operationg position, and the drum is fitted with two wire cutting discs at either end. Wartime applique armour has been fitted to the driver's and co-driver's hoods, as well as the side of the hull over the ammunition stowage bins.
