Nicolaus von Below served as Hitler's Luftwaffe adjutant during 1937 - 1945. At this conference Hitler informed Germany's military leaders of his plans to invade Poland. Around 50 senior officers attended the meeting. The wearing of civilian dress was specified so as not to arouse attention as the officers were driven to the Obersalzburg from airfields at Salzburg, Munich and Berchtesgaden.
