Centurion BARV ( Beach Armoured Recovery Vehicle ) rear nearside view. This vehicle was first developed in the late 1950's to replace the sherman BARV's then in service. The first vehicles were produced in 1961. Only a small number were built and still remain in service. They are used by the Royal Marines onboard various amphibious landing vessels. Their main role is to push grounded landing craft back into deeper water and to tow bogged vehicles up sandy beaches.
