Centurion ARV ( Armoured Recovery Vehicle ) FV4006, rear nearside view. The Centurion ARV was developed in the early 1950's with the first production vehicles completed by Vickers at Elswick in 1956. The ARV is based on the same chassis as the Centurion MBT ( Main Battle Tank. ) Until the introduction of the Chieftain ARV in 1976 the Centurion ARV was the standard ARV of the British Army. Still in service 1992.
