CQMS HARRY HAINSWORTH'S SERVICE WITH THE IRREGULAR WIRELESS OPERATOR SECTION (SOE) IN YUGOSLAVIA, 1942-1944.
Sergeant Ken Jones (left) with two Cetniks, one of whom is armed with a Czech Lehky Kulomet ZB vz.26 light machine gun. This photograph was taken in the village of Brajici in Serbia, used as headquarters by General Mihailovic's Cethiks during 1943.
This unpleasant-looking character is called the Squander Bug, and it was created during the Second World War by artist Phillip Boydell, an employee of the National Savings Committee. The cartoon bug appeared in press adverts and poster campaigns as a menace who encouraged shoppers to waste money rather than buy war savings certificates.
