24 loose black and white photographic prints (including some duplicates) of oblique aerial photographs taken by the Royal Air Force of locations in Malta, 1929-1931. The majority are annotated on the image, and all (except for copy prints) are stamped and annotated on the reverse by the Photographic Section of the RAF Base Malta, (i.e. Calafrana).
The subjects covered show mainly Valletta, its fortifications and environs, and Grand Harbour, but also include views of Fort San Lucian, Marsaxlokk, the neolithic temple site at Tarxien, the fishing harbour at Weid iz-Zurrieq, Qrendi, and Verdala Castle- the summer residence of the Governors of Malta. Finally, there is a ground photographic study of a Maltese peasant family outside their house, with a spinning wheel.
Physical description
25 black and white photographic prints, mostly aerial (dimensions all approx: H 165mm x 210mm). The majority bear a RAF official stamp and negative number on the reverse.
