LIN_06_148 Ceremonial Turning of the Page: RAF and RN personnel from LINTON-ON-OUSE join members of the York branch of the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) at YORK MINSTER for a Ceremonial Turning of the Page of the Book of Remembrance, dedicated to the Yorkshire Based Airmen who lost their lives during the Second World War. The memorial itself takes the form of an astronomical clock which shows the position of the stars over York at that time of day. This is to reflect the fact that night navigation during the war was often done by the position of the stars.On this occasion the Page Turner was Mr. Fred Ullathorne of York RAFA, 31 March 2006.
