One album containing 36 Polish official photographs relating to the Polish Army and Polish Air Force in Britain and the Middle East. Collection includes: 1. General Władysław Sikorski and Ambassador Count Edward Raczyński. 2. Two photographs of Lieutenant Colonel Jerzy Borkowski, officer of the Polish General Staff. On one of them with General Bronisław Regulski and Colonel Rohan of a Scottish regiment. Album might be compiled by him as a gift for an official or a friend. 3. President Władysław Raczkiewicz with General Sergej Ingr, the Czechoslovakian Minister of Defense. August Zaleski and Jan Stańczyk are also present. 4. Troops of the 1st Polish Corps and 1st Independent Parachute Brigade during training exercises and on manoeuvres in Scotland. 5. Polish pilots (No. 303 Fighter Squadron) being decorated by General Władysław Sikorski and Air Marshal William Sholto-Douglas. 6. Over two million American servicemen passed through Britain during the Second World War. In 1944, at the height of activity, up to half a million were based there with the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF). Their job was to man and maintain the vast fleets of aircraft needed to attack German cities and industry.
