One album containing 96 photographs along with 27 loose photographic prints and photo-postcards relating to the 1/20th and 2/20th Battalions, London Regiment covering the former battalion in Britain just prior to the First World War and the 2/20th Londons in Palestine during 1917 and 1918. A number of the photographs relating to the 1/20th Battalion were taken at the 5th London Infantry Brigade, Territorial Force camp at Arundel in 1913. One of these is a group photograph of 'B' Company. There are three other group photographs relating to the 1/20th Londons, one showing the football team that won the 141st Brigade Cup and two of men at Hazeley Down Camp, Winchester, awaiting return to the Battalion after recovering from wounds. Another photograph shows the cup presented by Major General W Thwaites to the transport section of the 1/20th Londons for general efficiency on active service (1915 - 1916). The majority of the remaining photographs and photo-postcards, including all those in the album, cover the 2/20th Londons in Palestine during 1917 - 1918. These include: Battalion pack mules on the beach at Dier el Belah (July 1917); the Battalion's Quartermaster and canteen at Shellal (September 1917); bivouac at Bir el Esani (30 October 1917); the battalion's first casualty being evacuated at Lone Tree 860 (1 November 1917); distribution of water at Wadi Kensington (3 November 1917); Sheria Ridge (held by 2/20th Londons on 7 November 1917); the Battalion forming up to march on Huj (8 November 1917); men of 2/20th Londons resting at Huj in November 1917; the battalion on the road from Kubiebeh to Enab (December 1917); building used as billet for the Battalion in Jerusalem in December 1917; bivouacs in the garden of Sir John Grayhill's house, Mount of Olives (December 1917); raft in which the Battalion crossed the River Jordan and pontoon bridge at Hafla Ford (March 1918); men at rest in the Jordan Valley and on the Jericho Road (March 1918); Palestinian refugees at Es Salt; Battalion transport passing Bethany (May 1918); 2/20th London's prize winners at the 180th Brigade Horse Show at Ramallah (May 1918). There are also photographs of notable buildings and streets in Jerusalem and Hebron, the mosques at Beersheba and Ramleh (Ramla), the monastery at Kubiebeh; general views of Anata, Bireh, Shafat, the Pools of Solomon and the Palestinian landscape. There is also a single photograph of men of the 2/20th Londons outside dugouts in the village of ?? in Macedonia and three photo-postcards showing 'The Roosters' concert party of 60th Division on stage.
One blue, cloth-covered photograph album (dimensions: 135mm x 185mm) containing 79 prints slipped into the album pages. The pages carry handwritten caption information. Also four board-mounted prints (dimensions between 215mm x 125mm and 240mm x 195mm), the print of 'B' Company has the lower right corner missing. All four board mounts have handwritten caption information, including names of some individuals, on the reverse. There are also 19 photo-postcards (dimensions ca.140mm x 90mm) and 5 loose photographic prints (dimensions between: 70mm x 50mm and 135mm x 80mm).
