Collection of photographs primarily related to the British Army in Salonika and the Balkans 1916-1919. The collection covers the 2nd Battalion, East Surrey Regiment, 85th Infantry Brigade and includes scenes in villages, aerial cableways, light railways and supply in the Struma Valley, and Kukus (modern day Kilkis). The collection also includes photographs of accommodation, entertainment, and a postcard of Territorital Force Nursing Service (TFNS) and Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD) nurses and personnel of the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) with wounded soldiers thought to be in Manchester (Whitworth Street). Also present are two colour illustrated postcards; one G D Armour illustrated postcard 'A Happy Christmas From the Balkans', the second a humorous postcard of a baby with an RAMC cap helping himself to cough syrup and medical supplies.
