Collection of assorted First World War photographs primarily covering the Royal Navy and British Army.
Royal Naval photographs include scenes onboard HMS NATAL and HMS CANTERBURY, and their mascots (cats, dogs and a pig). Also included are some duplicate British Official photographs of the Royal Navy in the Dardanelles circulated by Central News, postcards of British and Greek ships at Mudros and portraits of HMS CERES, HMS LORD NELSON, HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH and Italian battleship BENEDETTO BRAN.
Also included are photographs of French, Greek, Italian, Serbian, Indian, Gurkha, and Russian troops, Austrian prisoners of war, the Italian Red Cross, the British Army in Gallipoli including a football match with Achi Baba in the background, convalesing Indian and Gurkha soldiers, Winston Churchill and John French on the Western Front, 15 November 1915.
The collection also includes a press photograph of Japanese Boy Scouts equiped with small rifles.
Assorted black and white prints and postcards. The majority of the prints are stamped with 'Supplied by Central News'. Some of the postcard are addressed and many prints and postcards have handwritten annotations on the reverse in pencil.
